Overview
Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has started work on installing a mega solar system in the Gunma Plant (Sawa-gun, Gunma Prefecture) of wholly owned subsidiary Tokyo Denpa Co., Ltd. This project represents Murata's largest electricity generation system (generation capacity of 1.6MW) .
Background
In commemoration of welcoming Tokyo Denpa Co., Ltd. to Murata as a new member on August 1, 2013, a mega solar system (with an electricity generation capacity of 1.6MW) will be installed within the grounds of the company's Gunma Plant in order to contribute to the widespread use of renewable energy in the Kanto Region and to facilitate the stable supply of energy. This system is capable of generating an amount of electricity equivalent to that consumed by approximately 540 households on an annual basis, and the electricity generated will be sold to Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated and new power companies through the utilization of the Feed-in Tariff System.
We are also planning to cooperate with local authorities to make the system useful for environmental studies in elementary and junior high schools.
Combined with the renewable energy systems installed in the head office (50kW), our Yasu Division (1MW) and Shenzhen Murata Technology Co., Ltd. (1MW) , the total capacity of solar-generated electricity now stands at 3.6MW.
We will continue adopting initiatives to ensure the widespread use of renewable energy, energy saving and reducing the burden on the environment into the future, and will create next-generation solutions for the global environment and contribute to the stable supply of electricity to the community.
