Oct. 1944 Akira Murata started Murata Manufacturing as a personal venture in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto-shi.
Dec. 1950 Reorganized the company into Murata Manufacturing Company, Ltd. with Paid-in Capital ¥ 1 million.
May. 1952 Opened Tokyo Office (reorganized in Nov. 1972 into Tokyo Branch).
Oct. 1952 Moved Head Office to Yamashina Plant in Yamashina-ku, Kyoto-shi.

The Research departments were separated and Omiya Technology Research Laboratory Co. established at site of former Head Office.

Jun. 1956 Renamed Murata Technology Research Laboratory Co.

Aug. 1956 Moved to Nagaokakyo-shi.
Feb. 1961 Moved Head Office to Nagaoka Plant in Nagaokakyo-shi.
Mar. 1962 Merged with Murata Technology Research Laboratory Co.
Mar. 1962 Constructed Yokaichi Plant in Higashiomi-shi, Shiga Prefecture and commenced production.
Oct. 1962 Contracted to expor first plant (to former USSR).

Jan. 1973 Established a production company in Georgia, U.S.(now Murata Electronics North America, Inc.).
Oct. 1973 Established a marketing company (now Murata Company Limited) in Hong Kong, China.
Nov. 1975 Opened Europe Office.  Apr. 1978 reorganized into a company (now Murata Elektronik GmbH).
Aug. 1976 Listed on Singapore Stock Exchange.
Nov. 1978 Acquired a production and marketing company (now Taiwan Murata Electronics Co., Ltd.) by Murata Corporation of America (now Murata Electronics North America Inc. ) in Taiwan.
Nov. 1979 Opened Seoul Office in Seoul, Korea (now Korea Murata Electronics Company, Limited, a marketing company).
Sep. 1980 Equity participation in a Canadian multinational company. Mar. 1981 Completed the merger to put its Italian and French marketing companies (now Murata Electtronica S.p.A. and Murata Electronique SAS) and U.S. and German production companies under Murata's direct control.
Jun. 1982 Established a marketing company (now Murata Electronics (UK) Limited) in UK.
Sep. 1982 Equity participation in Denki Onkyo Co., Ltd. Apr. 1989 Merged.
Apr. 1986 Established Murata Amazônia Indústria E Comércio Ltda., a production and marketing company in Brazil.
Jul. 1987 Opened Yasu Plant in Yasu-shi, Shiga Prefecture.
Sep. 1988 Established Murata Electronics (Thailand), Ltd., a production and marketing company in Thailand.
Dec. 1989 Established Murata Electronics (Netherlands) B.V., a marketing company in the Netherlands.
