President/ Statutory Representative Director: Tsuneo Murata

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commercialized 0.6×0.3×0.3mm (0603 size) film type chip inductor optimal for the use in high frequency circuits for small portable equipment such as mobile phones.
We have succeeded in commercializing 0603 size inductor with the highest Q factor※1 in the industry. This was made possible by reevaluating the internal structure and forming optimal coil to create an ultra-small size using Murata's own latest microfabrication technology.
We have opted for thick film processing among various chip inductor processes including winding and multilayering. We advanced this thick film processing one step further to achieve higher performance.
We have completed 0603 size High Q type chip inductor series for the models ranging between 0.6nH and 120nH.
The inductance deviation is at ±0.2nH (±5%). We will continue to release additional low deviation models.
Currently, there is a trend for the number of components used in equipment to increase as small mobile communication equipment, such as mobile phones, become more multi-featured and high performing. Meanwhile, demands for smaller and lower-profile chip inductors are also increasing in conjunction with increasingly smaller equipment sizes. High Q factor in the high frequency range to increase the sensitivity of wireless circuits is in demand for high frequency applications in small mobile communication equipment, therefore; we were urged to meet our customer requirements for film type chip inductors simultaneously having small size and high Q factor.
| ※1 Q factor | Quality factor. Describes intensity of resonance. An inductor with a higher Q factor results in lower loss for the high frequency range, making it more preferable. |
