Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
President/ Statutory Representative Director: Tsuneo Murata

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commercialized silicon ESD* protection device for protecting electronic equipment against electrostatic discharge.
This ESD protection device realizes higher level of ESD characteristics and repetition durability compared with the previous product through Murata’s own circuit design.
The lineup includes 2-element, 4-element and 6-element types in addition to the 1-element type. In September 2009, the 10-element type and built-in filter function type are scheduled to join the lineup. Further, ultra low-capacitance type using ceramics is underway to fortify the ESD protection device lineup.
Murata will continue to develop ESD protection devices and aim at offering total solution for ESDs.
* ESD
Acronym for Electrostatic Discharge. Also indicates equipment damage caused by such discharge.
Larger number of features and finer wiring in ICs for electronic equipment nowadays require measures against electrostatic discharge. It is now necessary to install ESD protection devices for all electronic equipment including mobile phones and note-size PCs. However, existing solutions had problems with insufficient ESD suppression characteristics, and degraded ESD suppression characteristics after repeated ESDs. Murata has solved these problems by enhancing ESD suppression characteristics and repetition durability through original circuit design, to succeed in commercialization of the new ESD protection device.
For all electronic equipment including mobile phones and note-size PCs
