Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has manufactured for commercial use a wire wound type, ultra low profile chip coil, 'LQH2MC' series, for DC-DC converter circuits to be used in small mobile equipment such as cellular phones.
By applying Murata's own ferrite formation and wire wound technology a size of 2.0x1.6x0.7 (max.) mm is now available, making this the lowest profile wire wound type product for DC-DC converter circuits in the industry.
Current and frequency characteristics are equivalent to conventional LQH_C product (i.e. flat inductance over DC current and excellent Q versus frequency) making it suitable for the switching frequency range of DC-DC converter circuitry.
The current line-up includes inductance values ranging between 1.0 and 10µH.
This product does not contain substances designated by RoHS directive (*1).
Mass production will start in April 2006. Production of 3 million units per month is scheduled.
The product will be exhibited at Murata booth at Techno-Frontier 2006 held at Makuhari Messe, Chiba City, Chiba, Japan Prefecture starting on April 19.
*1 RoHS directive:
RoHS directive limits the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE in electric and electronic equipments, scheduled to be executed by the European Union in July 2006.
