Technical Terms

Direct current resistance

A resistance on a direct current.
A higher resistance makes higher power loss, then service life of the battery will be shorter.

*For resonant circuits or impedance matching circuits: Lower resistance is desirable.
For chokes: Lower resistance is desirable.

Self-resonant frequency

Frequency at which the coil resonant with self-capacitance.
Coil does not work as a coil over the self-resonant frequency.

*For resonant circuits or impedance matching circuits: Higher frequency than the operating frequency is desirable.
For chokes: Higher frequency than the operating frequency is desirable.

Allowable current

The maximum value of the direct current that may flow through a coil with no deterioration of the component.
If a current over the allowable current flows, excessive heat will be possible to be generated and the quality will be impossible to be guaranteed.

*For chokes: The allowable current must be greater than the maximum working current on the circuit.

Operating temperature range

The allowable range of the environmental temperature around a coil.
It does not contain the naturally generated heat.

*For resonant circuits or impedance matching circuits: Must fit the operating temperature range of the set.
For chokes: Must fit the operating temperature range of the set.
