Application Guide of Magnetic Pattern Recognition Sensors
Recommended Mounting Method
Mounting Method 1.
Mount the sensor with solder so that the bottom of the sensor case is in contact with the circuit board (PCB, thickness: 1mm or more). Then mount the PCB to the body of the equipment.
Hold the side of the sensor body by the sensor holder in order to disperse the force applied to the sensor.
Recommended Mounting Method 1
- Vibration of the equipment or impact generated during high-speed medium transport affects the sensor terminal pins.
Note that the terminal pins may be damaged depending on the intensity of the vibration or impact.

Mounting Method 2.
Mount the sensor to the body with gimbals. Connect the sensor to the PCB with wire.
Recommended Mounting Method 2
- With this method, the sensor provides higher resistance to vibration and impact than the method of mounting the terminal pins to the PCB (Recommended Mounting Method 1).

Positional Relationship between Sensor Case and Medium
The sensing efficiency depends on the positional relationship between the sensor and medium pattern.
1. Positional relationship between the sensor case and the elements.
The following description is for the BS05N1 type.
Viewed from Sensor Terminals
- Detecting elements are located at the center of the case.
- Terminal pins are located 3.4mm from the center of the case.
2. Mount the sensor so that the sensor's detecting surface is positioned in parallel with the target medium.
- Set the side of the medium (paper money) in parallel with the side of the sensor case.
3. The sensor detects the pattern in parallel with the elements.
Regarding the relationship between the pattern and the elements, the sensor outputs a higher voltage in the case where L1 is larger than, or equal to L2, than the case where L1 is smaller than L2.
