	Semispherical Piezolelectric Tweeters: True Sound Reproduction Beyond the Audible Wavelengths

Unlike conventional speakers, our ES103 tweeters produce sound through piezoelectricity: the semispherical ceramic membrane itself acts as the tweeter medium. With traditional speakers, the characteristic resonance frequency of the vibrator medium is set below the reproduction bandwidth; but with the ES103, the ceramic medium has resonant frequency that lies that above this bandwidth. This means that the diaphragm provides extremely faithful tracking of the input signal, resulting in superlative transient characteristics and delicate, rich sound reproduction. These tweeters enhance playback from a wide variety of audio media, from CDs and LPs to SACDs and DVD audio.

	Wide Directionality through "Breathing" Vibration

Another unique feature of the ES103 diaphragm is its unusual vibration mode. With conventional speakers, the diaphragm generates a front-back piston vibration. But the semispherical ceramic diaphragm in the ES103 expands and contracts like a balloon--a "breathing" vibration mode that actually realizes the point-type tone generation ideal for a speaker. With an input impedance of 8 ohms and a mechanical-network design, the ES103 series is an ideal fit for both large-speaker system and for bookshelf-size 2- and 3-way speaker systems. The ES103B comes in a buffed stainless enclosure finished in a high-quality black. It comes with an adapter for mounting onto a commercially available microphone stand in the event that its cylindrical housing does not mount easily onto your existing speaker system. By adjusting the adapter angle or by sliding the stand, you can freely adjust the height and position at any time to get just the sound you want.
