    Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will take part in CEATEC 2019, a CPS/IoT-focused exhibition to be held in Makuhari Messe (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture) from Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 18.

    With the development and evolution of new technologies, IoT is actually in use in a variety of home and workplace scenarios. In future, in addition to connecting and linking operations in a variety of areas via IoT, it is believed that further technological evolution and the commencement of 5G services will spur the realization of smart cities in super-smart societies (Society 5.0). The realization of the smart city will solve social problems and increase the comfort and the quality of our way of life.

    Under the theme, “Adding the smartest technology to a smart society,” in addition to introducing unique Murata products and technologies that will support Society 5.0, Murata will also introduce indoor position-detection solutions that leverage the technological outcomes we have cultivated in the field of wireless communications, and sensing solutions that are able to visualize normally invisible things – in this case, human emotions or the ambience of a space.

    Battery Area


    In addition to demonstrating the level of advancement that has allowed us to develop the world’s first practical lithium-ion battery to respond to the needs of the IoT era, this area will introduce battery solutions that only Murata can provide, combining process technologies cultivated in our manufacture of products including multilayer ceramic capacitors and our material technologies resulting from our development of the most advanced electronic components.

    Points of particular interest:

    ・The industry’s highest-capacity all-solid batteries (secondary batteries)
    ・Battery packs that integrate packaging technologies (miniature battery modules)
    Etc.


    Wireless Communications 

    Wireless communications technologies are essential to the IoT society. The research and development power and technological capacity of Murata have enabled us to constantly respond to the demands of the times. Our vast expertise has been formed over many years in the global wireless communications market, for example through the supply of wireless communications modules that comply with major communications standards such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®. This area will introduce solutions only available from Murata, in our preparation to support the changes that will occur with the commencement of 5G services.

    Points of particular interest:

    ・A millimeter-wave RF antenna module that allows upload and download of high volumes of data within a short time span
    ・Cellular and non-cellular LPWA modules for IoT applications
    ・A safety monitoring system for machinery operators that measures operator biological data and information on the surrounding environment


    Sensors

    Sensing technologies that enable detection – the first step in the realization of the IoT society. In this area, we introduce Murata sensors, able to provide a rich array of variations using materials including ceramics, MEMS, and magnetic materials, enabling these richly varied sensors to be utilized in numerous applications, all created on a foundation of diverse element technologies.

    Points of particular interest:

    ・Inertial force sensors able to detect the status and position of an automobile
    ・A water droplet-proof ultrasonic sensor able to be used for automatic parking in tight spaces and detection of parallel parking spaces 
    ・A light concentration system that allows non-destructive concentration of minute biological samples, allowing food inspection, clinical inspection, and more


    Indoor Position Detection Solutions

    Wireless communications technologies are the key to success in indoor positioning. Respond to the demands of the times, Murata has supplied the market with wireless communications modules that comply with major communications standards such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, in addition to a wide variety of high-frequency products. In this area, we introduce solutions to problems created by leveraging the results and the knowledge that we have cultivated in the fields of smartphones and wireless communications devices.

    ・Wi-Fi sensing solutions (Origin Wireless)
    ・Local positioning system (Locix)


    Sensing Solutions

    Sensing solutions able to evaluate human emotions, level of stress, and relationships to one another. In this area, we introduce solutions that can visualize and distinguish previously invisible information, e.g. human feelings and stress level;and information on people’s relationships with one another and levels of interest, e.g. levels of affection or sympathy or level of attention paid to something, which cannot be judged visually.
