Murata is now including in its portfolio advanced 1D linear and 2D angular sensor devices from Crocus Technology based on tunnel magnetic resistance (TMR) technology. With two different temperature and packaging options, the sensor devices offer elevated levels of operational stability over a broad temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, or from -40°C to +125°C with extended versions.

The CT100 1D linear sensor is characterised by its wide dynamic range (covering ±50 mT) and also exhibits industry-leading linearity with a linear error of just ±0.5% at ±20 mT. This enables improved measurement reproducibility and negates the need for compensation circuitry to address temperature fluctuations. It supports a wide operating voltage range of 1.0 V to 5.5 V. Among its main applications are linear measurements, proximity sensing and current sensing.

CT310 is a 2D angular sensor with an operating magnetic range from 25 mT to 90mT, plus differential outputs for both sine (SIN) and cosine (COS) axes. It is intended for angular position measurement and BLDC motor control. This device has a very low angular error of <0.6° once amplitude normalisation and offset cancellation have both been applied.

Both Crocus TMR sensors run off an input voltage from 1.0 V to 5.5 V. The CT100 is supplied in either a 6-lead SOT23 or a 6-lead DFN package. The CT310 is available in both 8-lead TSSOP and 8-lead DFN package formats. The very minimal number of peripheral components needed to accompany these devices saves valuable board space and accelerates system development.
