Overview
Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has installed a mega solar system at our Yasu Division (Shiga Prefecture) . The system began operations and started generating electricity in April. This system is capable of generating sufficient annual electrical power to accommodate 200 or more normal households. In addition to promoting the widespread use of renewable energy and helping to alleviate the problem of local electricity shortages, we are also planning on putting the system to further good use by providing environmental study programs, etc. for elementary and junior high schools in cooperation with local authorities.
Murata Manufacturing will continue to adopt initiatives targeting energy saving and reducing the burden on the environment in order to contribute to solving the problems faced by the global environment.
Background
At Murata Manufacturing, we had been examining the use of renewable energy for some time as part of our initiatives to prevent global warming. The government has established a wide range of deregulation policies and renewable energy distribution policies in light of the halted nuclear power plants and the need to save power, resulting in a favorable environment for installing such systems, so we have now installed a mega solar system at our Yasu Division in Shiga Prefecture, which is located in the Kansai region of Japan, where demands for power saving are particularly high.
