SensorsMotorcycle Fuel Cut

Motorcycles are dynamically very different compared to cars. Although both ESC and airbags have been introduced to motorcycles as well, usage of inertial sensors in motorcycles is not as widespread as in cars. Motorcycles are (typically) not used in below zero temperatures, but they do place very high requirements for the vibration robustness of sensors.

Murata accelerometers are used in fuel cut systems to shut down fuel delivery in case of the motorcycle falling over. A traditional engine with carburettors stops automatically if it falls over, but a modern motorcycle with fuel injection would continue, potentially injuring the rider if the bike does not sense the accident.
