The efficiency of a DC-DC converter can be improved by using an inductor with the largest possible inductance value and low AC loss (core loss) at the time of low current operation (PFM) , such as during standby.
Keep in mind that there are frequency characteristics in the AC loss.
Murata's ferrite multilayer inductors are excellent in low AC loss (core loss) characteristics, particularly at high frequencies, therefore improvement in efficiency can be expected.
Example: In a switching frequency of 3 - 5 MHz, low AC loss (core loss) was achieved
in a commonly used power inductor of about 1 uH.
For this reason, the power supply efficiency can be maintained as much as possible by using Murata's power inductors with low AC loss (core loss), which affects the efficiency at high frequencies accompanying the downsizing of DC-DC converters.
