Silicon Capacitors FAQ

Standard products

Why do the size codes differ in comparison with MLCCs?

Since silicon capacitors have a different lower electrode from MLCCs, the size code in the case of a surface-mounted device is assigned so that it is equal to the recommended land pattern in an MLCC. For example, if we compare an MLCC and a silicon capacitor with a code of 0201 (inch), the case size of the MLCC is 0.6 x 0.3 mm, and the recommended land dimensions are 0.3 to 0.4 mm.The case size of the silicon capacitor is 0.8 x 0.6 mm (pad width of 0.4 mm), and the recommended land dimensions are 0.4 mm.
