LoRa (LoRaWAN) Module
LoRa Module FAQ
LoRa Module FAQ
<INDEX>
- Hardware
Can we develop our own applications in Murata's LoRa module?
What is the product lineup of Murata's LoRa modules? What are the differences?
What is the difference between CMWX1ZZABZ-078 and CMWX1ZZABZ-091?
Is a Modem version available for Murata's LoRa module Type ABZ?
We are defining the antenna for our prototypes. Does the RF pin already have the matching components to have 50 ohm impedance, or we need to add it externally?
In the datasheet, "STSAFE" chip option for this module has been mentioned. What is STSAFE option? How can I control it? Does this mean that "STSAFE" is optional or it is an option included in the module? What is the part number of the module?
What is the difference between LoRa and FSK? Can we use both FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and LoRa modulation?
What is the realistic range of LoRa? What is the actual range that can be achieved?
How many LoRa nodes can be connected to one gateway? Can LoRa nodes talk to each other? Is mesh topology possible in LoRa?
Can uplink and downlink communication happen at the same time? Are there any restrictions on uplink/ downlink communication?
What are the external interfaces, and how many GPIOs are there? What about the flash size available in the ST MCU?
In Tx, Rx, and STOP mode, how much power is consumed for each?
Does the LoRa module support OTA firmware update?
How to increase data rate after enabling ADR?
- Software
We intend to use the Murata module with the open source supplied in this link: http://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/i-cube-lrwan.html
The MAC address of each module is taken from the internal number of the STM32 chip. Is this number unique and certified as valid MAC address by IEEE as LoRaWan MAC addresses?
We have received the software to configure SX1276 in continuous Tx/Rx. Is there any possibility to have this kind of command in default flash firmware? It would ease our certification tests.
What is the physical interface on device to load firmware (first time)? Is it possible to flash firmware through PIN 23 and 24? Do we need to connect to other PINS?
Is there any possibility in the device to know when we can send another message (linked to duty cycle)?
What is the meaning of “Open MCU design”? Does LoRa module not include the LoRa Stack in the MCU? ST MCU needs to be programmed or the module comes ready to work?
"Listen before talk" (LBT) function - is this supported by the module or by the LoRa Network?
How can I get LoRa firmware support? Where can I get the "Open source firmware"?
- Procurement
Where can I find the evaluation kit & sample? What is the cost? May I know the availability status? Where can I find the product lineup table and MP (mass production) schedule?
- LoRa Alliance
How many members are there in the LoRa Alliance? Where can I see the worldwide LoRaWAN coverage map?
Where can I find all the information about the LoRa Alliance?
- LoRa Technology
Where can I download the latest technical documents on LoRaWAN Specification and Regional Parameters?
What are the differences between Class A, B and C?
- Certification
What is LoRaWAN™ Certification Program? How is the LoRa Alliance Product Certification Process Flow like?
How do I know if the product is LoRaWAN™ Certified? What is the certification status of Murata's LoRa module?
Can Murata provide the FCC and CE certifications? We understand the module is pre-certified for 915MHz and 868MHz and we are currently trying to obtain the certification pricing for our products.
Can Murata provide the FCC /CE Testing Reports? We will need to file for our products CE certificate as well as apply to other countries.
- Use cases
What are some of the actual use cases?
- General
How is the Worldwide Deployment landscape for LoRa like? Who are the key players in each region?
Why should I choose LoRa? Is LoRa(WAN) better than other technologies?
Do you have any reference materials or sites which can help us to have easier understanding on LPWA and Murata TypeABZ LoRa modules?
How much is the cost of Murata module? What is the product line up and MP (mass production) schedule?
