Murata's logo is characterized by its white letters on a red background, with a capital R in the center. This idea was first introduced on a PR poster made around 1947. It was inspired by Professor Tetsuro Tanaka from Kyoto University, then a technical consultant in our industry-academia collaboration. It was hand-drawn by his artist friend on our poster. He came up with the idea of making the R in uppercase after the trend of logo making then becoming popular in the United States. This was quite unprecedented in Japan and became the talk of the town upon its presentation.

This slogan is shared by all Murata employees in and out of Japan, and is a fundamental concept for building our new markets, products and business domains. It was conceptualized from our corporate philosophy for the 50th anniversary of Murata's foundation, symbolizing our aim to become the company that “leads the way in innovation in the electronics industry.”
Each one of us is also required to exert “Innovativeness” by thinking on his/her own to come up with new business and administrative approaches, and help our company achieve its ideal form. To be an “Innovator” also means seriously thinking about how we may be able to improve our society and environment, and to act upon such thinking.
Under the slogan “Innovator in Electronics®,” we at Murata will contribute to society through the development of original electronic components accommodating the varying needs of the time.
