Ceramic Capacitors FAQ

Characteristics

What is the voltage characteristic of capacitor's capacitance?

The phenomenon whereby the effective capacitance of a capacitor varies depending upon the whether voltage is DC or AC is called the "voltage characteristics."
If this variation is small, the voltage characteristics are good, while if the variation is large, the voltage characteristics are poor. When using a capacitor in electronic equipment in order to remove ripple in the power line, for example, it is necessary to carry out design that takes into consideration the working voltage conditions.
