With just 17 mm × 17.5 mm × 2.15 (max.) mm, Murata developed a multi-technology fused LPWAN geolocation module, offering ultra-low power design for long battery life, superior sensitivity, and high flexibility to build customized low-cost tracking devices, suited for Internet of Things (IoT) asset tracking applications for both indoor and outdoor environments.
Based upon Semtech latest LoRa Edge™ LR1110 solution, the Type 1WL module also features high performance MT3333 GNSS chipset from Mediatek, Ultra-Low power STM32WB series dual core microcontroller (MCU) from STMicroelectronics with 1MB of Flash Memory and 256KB of SRAM memory for customer application.
Also housed in the tiny module are temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), crystal oscillators, SAW filter, LNA, RF switch and multiple communication interfaces including UART/I2C/SPI/ADC/USB and various GPIOs.
Designed for deployment globally, the module supports LoRa ISM bands from 860 MHz to 930 MHz, Wi-Fi® passive scanning 802.11b/g/n, Low-power GNSS Scanning, Standalone GNSS geolocation, and Bluetooth® 5.3 specification.
The device has a single part number globally, simplifying customer supply chains.
Accommodating a wide range of temperatures, the module can operate from −30 to 85°C.
The new Type 1WL module will help designers to develop solutions that meet the most demanding requirements, especially in Internet of Things (IoT) asset tracking applications such as asset location, asset recovery, traceability, supply chain, logistics, cold chain monitoring, inventory management, loss & theft prevention, amongst many more.
