Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Murata") has commercialized "PKGM-200D-R" (hereinafter "this product"), a surface mount type vibration sensor device. Mass production and supply has already begun. Mass production and supply has already begun.

Although scheduled maintenance or corrective maintenance are common in the FA industry, predictive maintenance has recently been attracting attention. Predictive maintenance involves making use of various sensor information to predict when trouble might occur and then implement preventive measures. This can help to prevent downtime loss caused by unexpected equipment stoppage. Another benefit is that this does not require keeping excess repair parts on hand, as maintenance periods would be known in advance.
At only 5.0 x 5.0 x 3.5 mm in size, this product can be retrofit to mechanical component parts as a sensor node. It can also be embedded guides or bearings. It includes a temperature sensor to detect abnormal heat generated by equipment. It incorporates piezoelectric PZT ceramic vibration detector element technology developed by Murata over many years, allowing it to measure the vibration acceleration (up to 11 kHz) of high-frequency components where metals rub together without influence of noise. For rotary bearings, FFT analysis*1 can be used on vibration data for areas where grease has worn away or small surface scratches to detect abnormalities, and predict when trouble might occur sooner.

  • *1 FFT analysis: Fast Fourier Transform analysis. A type of frequency analysis. It can be used to diagnose characteristic frequencies that cause vibration, and can even detect slight abnormalities.

Key features

  • Capable of wide frequency range detection in the Z-axis direction
  • Driver circuit built-in
  • Differential output to reduce line noise
  • Temperature sensor included
