Polymer Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors: Technical noteMechanical strength of the ECAS series

Features of the ECAS series learned from the verification results of a stress simulation and actual sample limit strength test

1. Background: Hidden Features of the ECAS Series

MLCCs are composed of ceramics. Therefore, cracks may form when the board deflects and at other times, which may lead to open- or short-circuit defects.
By contrast, the main constituent components of our ECAS series of polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors are composed of metal (aluminum) foil and resin. Accordingly, the ECAS series has extremely high mechanical strength compared to MLCCs.

We introduce here the features of the ECAS series from the results of a stress simulation and actual sample limit strength test for the board bending resistance after the board is mounted as an indicator of its mechanical strength.
