The ESD suppression effect is higher with pattern (1) in which the TVS diode is placed at the connector (entry point).
Pattern (2) is also effective in suppressing ESD, but less so than with pattern (1).

We give an image of ESD suppression with patterns (1) and (2) below.
The value that can be suppressed by the TVS diode is fixed. It is possible to release ESD further with a CMCC or similar.
