Sound Components (Buzzer)Surface-mounted Device (SMD) Piezoelectric Sounders: Precautions When Using Labels, Masking Tape and Similar

Other

Please avoid affixing labels or masking tape to the product.

If a label or masking tape is affixed to the product in a way that blocks the sound-emitting hole and open hole, it may cause a failure such as a drop in the sound pressure.
If you need to affix a label or masking tape to the product, please check the positions of the sound-emitting hole and open hole. In addition, please pay attention because the lid may come off when you remove the label or masking tape.

  • *Please refer to the specifications for the positions of the sound-emitting hole and open hole.

How the failure occurs

The inside of the surface-mounted device (SMD) piezoelectric sounder is divided into air chambers by a piezoelectric diaphragm and silicone adhesive. These air chambers are connected to the outside through the sound-emitting hole and open hole established on the top and sides of the product.

If a label, masking tape, or similar is affixed to the product in a way that blocks the sound-emitting hole or open hole, the label or other material may interfere with the emission of sound waves. That may cause a failure such as a drop in the sound pressure.
